In 1952, three local women started Washington County Association for Retarded Children or "ARC", now operating as "The Arc"
In 1959 a part-time sheltered workshop began in a church basement
In 1963, The Threshold was incorporated and relocated to a larger, rented facility
In 1973, the new 20,000 sq. ft. facility was built through donations from the community
In the late 70's, another 20,000 sq. ft. was added to the facility, also through donations
In 2008, through the generosity of numerous foundations, organizations, and individuals, the Threshold Rolfs Avenue facility underwent a major renovation to better serve clients
In 2013, a very generous donation was given to our organization to purchase the Westwood Mall, and TTI Industries which is the Lawrence and Vivian Stockhausen Center (LVS). Click here to learn more about the LVS Center History
Senior Day Services moved into the facility through the dedication and hard work of countless individuals
The Threshold remains as a local, important community service, and has been part of this community for over 60 years
